Ten Ways to Make Your Images POP in Photoshop!!
So, Coming this July, we will be having a MONSTER of a Photoshoot/Workshop. June's event is gonna be awesome as well, but JULY? Boy howdy! The official announcement will be June 1st, but, keep an eye out for a Studio MLP event near the end of July (sometime between the 22nd and the 26th... shhhhhh.) We will be flying in talent from around the country. And, among this sea of talent, I will be putting on a 1 hour Photoshop workshop on enhancing images in Photoshop.
I often get comments from people about how they like my lighting, or asking me how I got so much texture on a surface, well, while lighting does play a role, a LOT of my images aren't much of anything until I whip a little Photoshop on them. I'll be showing off TEN of my favorite tricks to enhance lighting, contrast, and texture in my images. Add to that a few other instructors who REALLY know what they are doing, as well as an opportunity to work with models coming in from all over the country, and this is going to be a GREAT weekend..
Until then, take a look at one of my favorite Photoshop books.. It has some GREAT techniques in it to really take your images to the next level. And, a dang good price if I do say so myself.

Blog MLP Takes his act on the road
Ok, for some dang reason, somewhere, someday, I may find it necessary to post a blog from whereever I am, not necessarily from home. So, now I can blog by SMS text message. Far out!

Jumpin Jiminy There's a Lotta Photography Stuff Coming Up
So, if you've got a camera, and you don't know what to do with it... you just aren't trying. There are so many shooting opportunities in the area over the next few months, that if you don't show up to SOMETHING, you need to re-evaluate if photography is actually something you are interested in.
Let's start a list, shall we?
Plus, multiple HELP PORTRAIT planning meetings for the December event.
Plus, Frank sure ain't done with his ANYTHING GOES shoots.
Plus, whatever the Racine Camera Club and Photo Kenosha are up to.
Plus, more events being added all the time to the aforementioned meetup.com groups. I have it on good authority that also within the next few months, there will be a wildflower shoot at Petrified Springs Park in Kenosha, Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop Classes in Franklin, a group outing to the Ren Faire in Bristol (Kenosha), volunteer shooting for animal rescue / shelters, the Scott Kelby Photowalk is coming up in July.
Seriously, whether you have $10,000 worth of gear in a $500 camera bag, or you just have a point and shoot camera that you barely know how to use, there are PLENTY of chance over the next few months to go out, do some shooting, do some socializing, make some new friends, and basically, just enjoy your hobby.
If you have any other information about upcoming events, please send me an email, and I will add them to my list.
Let's start a list, shall we?

What? It's not like he's gonna get LESS shot!
Best line of the video, @3:51...
Although I do mostly Photography, I've dabbling a little bit in video. Film Riot is an awesome series featuring tips and tricks on low-budget, guerrilla film making.. check it out! Some of the techniques could easily be used in some creative still photography as well.

Upcoming Shoots for the Milwaukee Photography Meetup Group
On March 9th, we will be having another planning session for this year's HELP PORTRAIT event. Last year's event was FANTASTIC!!! We served over 180 families. This year, we hope to make it even BIGGER and BETTER! Join us to help plan it out.
Also, somewhere around the end of April, or the beginning of May, we will be having a meetup at WAYNE'S DAUGHTER GREENHOUSE to photograph flowers that will be blooming. We are trying to work out an exact day and time, so be sure to stay tuned! Be sure you have a tripod and macro lens for this one. Or, if not a macro lens, at least a closeup filter
!
Also, if you haven't already done so, please complete the poll in which we ask what kind of image editing workshops you would like to see us put on. Photoshop basics seems to be in the lead, but the group is definitely leaning towards Adobe products of all kinds, including Adobe Photoshop Elements
.
And last, Studio MLP will be putting on another FREE Class, this time focusing (har!) on Digital Camera Basics. Ever wonder what that setting was for in some arcane menu on your camera? This will be the place to find out!

Pimpin' Green Martini

So, I've spent almost all night pimping Green Martini. For those of you who don't know yet, Green Martini is a website that my buddy Scott has put together to put Model Mayhem and One Model Place out of business. The guy knows his stuff and has created a great website. The site is still in beta, and there are a lot of cool features that have yet to be added, but it's going to be awesome by the time the official release happens.
I have also been named Green Martini's Education Coordinator. Once the site is up and running, I will be responsible for creating and obtain training material for the site. F'rinstance, I'll be creating videos on Photoshop and lighting skills, and also working with other talented artists to help them create content for the site as well.
So, tonight, I started up a Green Martini Events Meetup page with the help of Brian G. I did a bunch of invited to the Green Martini Facebook page, and I'm planning out a Green martini MySpace page. I'll link that as well once I get it up and running.
Also, but sure to check out my HD YouTube video on Green Martini's CREDIT feature.
